The purpose of this role is to support the organisation's IT infrastructure by maintaining and managing systems to ensure optimal performance and availability. The role involves routine tasks such as monitoring systems, applying updates, and troubleshooting issues to ensure the smooth operation of IT services. Additionally, this role is responsible for the design and implementation of various projects and solutions aimed at improving the overall performance and stability of the organisation's IT systems.

Responsibiliites include: - Maintain a friendly, first-class level of customer service ensuring all customers are treated efficiently and in an appropriate manner.
- Take ownership of issues by carrying out problem analysis to implement temporary or permanent fixes with the aim of restoring service to the customer as soon as possible.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of IT processes.
- Design and deploy IT systems, including servers, storage, and networking solutions.
- Participate in the selection and implementation of new technologies to enhance and improve IT infrastructure.
- Monitor and maintain IT systems, including servers, storage, and network devices, to ensure consistent performance and availability.
- Support network operations by monitoring network performance and managing basic network configurations (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls).
- Assist in the implementation of security measures, including the application of patches and updates to ensure systems are secure.
- Participate in the execution of backup procedures to ensure data is regularly and securely backed up.
- Assist in the restoration of systems and data in the event of a failure.
- Provide regular reports on system status, incidents, and maintenance activities.
- Provide support to end-users for issues related to system access, performance, and functionality.
- Assist in the training of users on IT systems, tools, and best practices.
Essential - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in IT systems support or a similar role.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems, basic networking, and virtualisation.
- Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) and virtualisation platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Desirable - Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to learning and development.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft MTA.
