This is a role for someone who straddles the line between data engineering and AI — someone who can write a solid ETL pipeline in the morning and help shape an AI workflow in the afternoon. If you're curious about what's possible, comfortable with ambiguity, and energised by turning early-stage ideas into working systems, this could be a great fit.
What you'll be doing - Designing and building data pipelines and ETL processes that are reliable and maintainable
- Writing and optimising SQL queries (including MySQL) and using Python for data processing and analysis
- Applying prompt engineering techniques as part of AI-driven workflows
- Translating stakeholder requirements into technical solutions — the kind of brief that goes "here's the dataset, figure out the logic"
- Supporting the development of AI agents — including human-in-the-loop systems and analysis of model outputs (call analysis, performance review, etc.)
- Helping move prototypes toward production — iterating with PMs and internal stakeholders along the way
What we're looking for - Solid data engineering experience — pipelines, ETL, SQL, Python
- Exposure to or genuine interest in AI/ML and prompt engineering — you don't need to be an expert, but you need to be engaged
- Comfortable with ambiguity — this isn't a role with a fully mapped-out spec on day one
- A practical, delivery-focused mindset — willing to share early drafts, take feedback, and keep moving
- Clear communication skills — you can translate technical work for non-technical stakeholders without losing the detail
- This role will be 5 days on site - location is East Tamaki.
Nice to have Experience on AI-driven products or automation workflows · Exposure to unstructured data (voice, text, etc.) · A background that spans both engineering and analytics — you enjoy both sides of the house
