The Opportunity
Digital Learning SpecialistAuckland, Newmarket | Full-time | Education & Training
This is a training role with a difference. Based at a vocational IT institute in Newmarket, you'll be delivering hands-on technology programmes in an open, office-style learning environment — the kind of place where students feel like they're already in industry. Your job is to help learners gain the skills and confidence to land their first IT role.
We're looking for someone who has lived both sides — real industry experience in computer engineering, infrastructure, or cloud, combined with a passion for training and developing people. You don't need to come from a traditional classroom background; what matters is that you can connect with diverse learners, make technical content engaging, and genuinely care about student outcomes.
The Role
You'll design, deliver, assess, and continuously improve technology-focused training programmes aligned to NZQA requirements. This includes:
Delivering engaging, industry-relevant IT programmes across computer engineering, infrastructure, and cloud
Assessing student work and providing meaningful, timely feedback
Supporting students holistically — identifying those at risk early and putting plans in place
Maintaining accurate student progress records and contributing to reporting
Participating in moderation and contributing to programme improvement
Bringing real industry insight into the training room to build student work-readiness
What We're Looking For
Solid industry background in computer engineering, infrastructure, and/or cloud technologies
Experience in training, facilitation, or coaching — formal or informal
Genuine commitment to student success and helping people into employment
Strong communicator, organised, and able to engage a diverse learner group
Training or assessment credentials (or willingness to obtain them)
Values-driven and student-centred in your approach
