Want to use finance to influence how a business performs, rather than simply report on what has already happened?

Skyline Enterprises is looking for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join its Group Finance team in Queenstown, supporting the portfolio of New Zealand And International tourism businesses.

This is a commercially focused, forward-looking role. Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, you’ll work closely with General Managers and operational leaders to understand performance, identify opportunities and risks, and turn financial and operational information into better business decisions.


What you’ll be doing

You’ll take ownership of a portfolio of businesses and build strong relationships with the leaders running them. You’ll understand the operations beyond the P&L, get underneath the key commercial drivers and help turn insight into action.

• Act as a trusted finance partner to General Managers and operational leaders.
• Provide commercial insight across revenue, yield, margin, productivity and cost.
• Lead monthly performance discussions, identifying emerging risks, opportunities and actions.
• Lead budgets, operating plans and forecasts in partnership with the business.
• Challenge assumptions and improve forecast accuracy and accountability.
• Use scenario and sensitivity analysis to assess options and trade-offs.
• Translate complex financial and operational data into clear, practical recommendations.

There will still be a hands-on finance component, but the focus is clear: less emphasis on historical reporting and more on forward-looking commercial insight, constructive challenge and influence.


What Skyline is looking for

You’ll bring strong financial and commercial acumen, along with the confidence and relationship skills to build credibility with senior operational stakeholders. What matters most is your commercial curiosity, judgement and ability to turn financial and operational information into insights that drive better business decisions.  

• Around 5+ years’ experience in commercial finance, financial management or business partnering.
• Budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis experience.
• Confidence working directly with senior operational stakeholders.
• The ability to look beyond a set of numbers and ask “why?”
• Strong Excel capability and experience working with ERP and BI/reporting tools.
• Experience using data to identify commercial opportunities and influence decisions.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting or business.

If something doesn’t make sense, you’ll investigate it. If you think there’s a better way to approach something, you’ll say so. And if the numbers are pointing to an opportunity or problem, you won’t simply report it and move on; you’ll work with the business to understand what action should follow.
