Remote, with initial travel to South Island
Our client is implementing a new enterprise POS and ticketing platform across multiple sites, and we need a hands-on reporting analyst to help them get it right. If you're comfortable in SQL, confident building Power BI dashboards, and enjoy the challenge of turning messy transactional data into something useful — this one's worth a look.
The context This is a critical juncture in a programme that's progressing well. The platform is being rolled out across multiple sites, and reporting is a key piece of the puzzle — we need someone to establish a solid, reusable reporting baseline that can flex across locations while staying consistent under the hood. You'll work closely with operational leaders, finance teams, and the wider project team.
What you'll be doing - Translating business reporting requirements into technical specs, data logic, and working visualisations
- Building and maintaining SQL/HTML-based reports within the new POS platform
- Developing robust, scalable dashboards and data models in Power BI to support operational, financial and management reporting
- Establishing a reusable reporting baseline that can be adapted across sites without sacrificing consistency in logic or definitions
- Owning data quality — validating outputs, troubleshooting issues, and making sure revenue reporting can be trusted
- Documenting report definitions, data transformations, and business logic clearly enough that others can build on your work
- Providing reporting validation support during go-lives and implementation phases
What we're looking for
- Strong SQL skills — you're comfortable writing queries, working with transactional data, and digging into data issues yourself
- Hands-on Power BI experience — building dashboards and data models that people actually use
- Experience translating requirements from non-technical stakeholders into structured, reliable reporting outputs
- A practical mindset around data governance — validation, documentation, access controls, and getting the basics right
- Comfort operating in an active implementation environment — things will evolve, and you'll need to iterate as they do
Nice to have Background in POS, ticketing, retail or hospitality systems. Experience across multi-site or phased implementation programmes. Familiarity with revenue reporting in high-volume transactional environments
